Who Is Your Hero?

Your Everyday Hero: Michael S.

Please bear with me, I'm not very good on the keyboard. My two sons and I went through a situation in 2006 that changed our lives. I have told my sons since that time that we make mistakes but it's what we do afterwords that determines who we are. Their mother made a mistake with someone else and we must move on. My sons are with me 1/2 and their mom 1/2 the time. This is tough on two children but I try to instill in them the morals we taught them as young children.

My son, Michael has a good story. My two sons and I were in the Dollar Store one weekend and Mike asked me if we could buy a football. I told him he had just gotten one for Christmas, and he said, you will understand, just let me. When we got home he explained he had a friend in homeroom that went to special ed but had recess with his class. This kid always wanted Mike to throw him the football and Mike took the football home. I took him to school that Monday and asked him if he needed to put it in his book bag. He said he would tell his teacher the truth. That Tuesday when Mike came home I asked him what the young man said and he said he just cried and hugged him. After everything my son had been through himself he still thought of someone with less. It made me realize, a part of my values will go on another generation.
