Your Everyday Hero: Gloria S.

My hero, is my friend Gloria! Our life paths crossed about 22 years ago, while working with the phone company. During those years, of working together, I began to know what she really wanted to do in life and that was to help women, children and the homeless. Gloria spent many hours working with a local coalition that sought to improve the conditions of the homeless population, in our community. Gloria retired from the phone company, 6 years ago, and rather than enjoy the retired life, she found a faith based homeless ministry and began to work for them, while continuing her own education, in that area of need. Gloria is now the assistant director and lead case manager of the ministry's transitional shelter, for women and children. This program helps those women, who may have been homeless, to find a way back into our society. Gloria has now found her true calling and works to that end, in helping others to help themselves! That is the reason, Gloria is my hero!
