Your Everyday Hero: Michelle

I had an unexpected quadruple bypass surgery 4 weeks ago. While in cardiac ICU I was pretty much in the hands of my nurses. I will never forget Michelle. When I was conscious she told me about her family, her church, and her faith. She is a young mother. I'm 60 and shared about my family. Her voice and her conversation were so comforting to me. She always touched me and I felt that she really cared. After her 12 hour shift she told me she would be praying for me. I didn't expect to see her again, but the next night, there she was. She explained she was asked to work an extra shift and guess who she asked to care for, ME!!! Once again, her smile, touch, conversation and care accelerated my healing. The next day I was moved out of ICU. A month passed and the first day I could drive, I first went to the hospital to say thank you to those who cared for me. I will remember Michelle, a person who was a hero to me for a short time by her example of caring for someone she didn't know but someone who she made feel very important and actually cared for.
