Mom's Bad Day

My mom went to the grocery store in a hurry one afternoon and filled a cart to feed our family of 8 for another week. She had a number of errands to run, but when she made her purchase and pushed the cart out to the parking lot, she discovered she had locked her keys in the car. She frantically called a locksmith, wrote him a check, and hurried to her other errands.

At a certain point, my mother realized that she'd left her cart full of hundreds of dollars with of groceries in the parking lot of the grocery store. She hurried back and looked everywhere for her cart of newly-purchased food. It was nowhere to be found, and she was sure it had been stolen.

My discouraged mother made the 45-minute drive back to our home way out in the countryside on the verge of tears at what had happened. When she pulled up in the driveway, however, to her surprise she saw all the bags of groceries on the front porch of our home, with a note that said the ice cream was in the neighbor's freezer. Some kindly person had seen my mom drive off and leave her cart behind, so she got mom's address from the locksmith's check and made the 45-minute drive to deliver the groceries... to a complete stranger.
